September 7, 2006 Dear Mann Families, Greetings from Mann Elementary School and welcome to a new school year! It has been wonderful to see the children back in school. Our students bounded into Mann with smiles on their faces, ready to engage in the learning process once again. As I have visited classes, I have been impressed with how eager our children were to be back at school! With the exception of a few tears from a couple of our youngest students (and a few of their parents), the school year is off to a fabulous start! Hopefully, after reading this note, you will get a better understanding of a couple of things impacting AM and PM drop off and dismissal. A crossing guard has not been assigned to Berkshire and Kenilworth. Currently a police officer is crossing students each day. Due to this, the student safety patrol services will be modified to ensure the safety of all students. The village is having street work done on Berkshire at the corner of the school and the park. The village Project Engineer has been contacted by the school and we are working together so that the work doesn’t disrupt the traffic flow during arrival and dismissal of our students. Be sure you are driving with caution and always pull up on Berkshire as far as you can to drop/pick-up students. In addition, always pull up to the curb and have your child exit on the side of the school. Arriving a few minutes early will help make the drive smoother. If you are walking you child, make sure to cross at the appropriate cross walks. All in all, it has been a terrific start to the 2006-2007 school year. We look forward to a productive year and we hope to see all of our parents at our September 13th Open House. Sincerely, |
