Whittier’s School Improvement Team (SIT) is a group of school staff members and parents who work together to improve student success and strengthen the Whittier community. District 97 established SITs in each of its schools in 2006 and works through them to implement a variety of initiatives. Whittier’s SIT develops additional programs to meet the needs of students and families.
The SIT is divided into three subcommittees that work on initiatives and planning before submitting proposals to the team as a whole. These committes are responsible for:
Whittier’s SIT works in cooperation with the Whittier PTO, which provides financial support for several SIT programs.
Whittier’s SIT is chaired by Principal Carol Young. Its members serve for two-year terms. The team meets monthly
