It is my honor and privilege to join your team for the 2020 - 2021 school year as a 6th grade Advisory teacher and Wilson reading teacher working within all grade levels. Although the beginning of this year will look different than what we’re all used to, I am happy to help and serve in any way that I am able to in order to make the transition to the beginning of a new year easier.

My name is Riley Hoerner, and I am coming to District 97 from Evanston/Skokie District 65. In my role, I was a special education teacher and case manager. I had other experiences in Chicago Public Schools as a resource teacher, and sixth-grade English Language Arts teacher. Throughout my career, I’ve always supported middle school students from sixth through eighth grade, and I am thrilled that I get to continue with this type of work in District 97.

Recently, I graduated from National Louis University with a Masters in Education. Specifically, I completed the program in reading instruction and earned my Reading Specialist endorsement. For my undergraduate experience, I attended Marquette University where I studied elementary education and literature-intensive english.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking and baking, and walking my dog through the city. As a resident of West Loop, I have the opportunity to explore the many diverse neighborhoods of Chicago, and I enjoy taking full advantage of that opportunity.

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns at any time. I look forward to being your partner in education this year!
