Hello Julian Community !!
I am delighted to be one of the two new administrators added to the Julian leadership team this year. I hope that by sharing this introductory letter with you, you’ll get to know me as an educator, leader and person.
In 2001, shortly after and as a result of the 9/11 attacks, I made a switch from working in law to education by completing the Golden Apple Teacher Certification Program. I worked in Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago International Charter School System for the first 8 years of my career including 2 years as a fifth grade teacher and one year each respectively as a 6th grade Social Studies and Science Teacher. I then transitioned from the classroom to administration accepting a position as a Middle School AP in Arlington Heights School District 25. While there, I was fortunate to work with all grades and made several loops with my students as they matriculated on to high school. Last year, I was fortunate to work at Longfellow as an Assistant Principal, one of our Julian feeder schools.
I believe that my strengths as an educator include: (1) the depth of rapport that I build with my students and their parents and (2) having a keen interest in developing systems which best support and edify teachers’ success. Though we are only in the first several weeks of the school year, please know that I am doing my level best to get to know as many of your children as possible and listening closely to the feedback from our teachers about how to improve our virtual learning experience.
In closing, I am exuberant about the opportunity to return to middle school leadership and support the Julian learning community.
Best wishes for your day,
Jerome Green, JD, MEd.
Assistant Principal, PJMS, 6th Grade
