IB Community Projects
The IB Community Project Fundraising Event that occurred 2 weeks ago was a huge success! Thirteen groups of students put their projects into motion by participating in this school wide activity. The 8th graders advertised their projects to the student body by creating videos, posters, and using social media. They raised a total of $827.72.
Students fundraised for the following organizations:
- A House in Austin
- American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
- Animal Care League
- Color of Change
- ConPRmetidos
- Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
- New Moms
- Sarah’s Inn
- She Should Run
- The Turtle Hospital
- The Water Project
- Transgender Student Educational Resources
- World Wildlife Fund
Zephy Roe and Evan Pollock’s group raised the most money for their organization, the World Wildlife Fund. Belle Martin and Eva Loranz earned the most “thumbs up” tickets for their organization, She Should Run. “Thumbs up” tickets were given out by teachers and a select group of students for the groups knowledge about their cause and overall presentation set-up. Congratulations to all groups for their hard work and thank you to everyone that participated!
SUPPORT4U – Summer Support for Students
SUPPORT4U is a mental health-related prevention and support resource for students, by which they can text licensed mental health clinicians any time of the day for assistance or guidance. While students can initiate a text conversation on any issue, some of the matters that students wish to address could include anxiety, depression, substance use, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, bullying, abuse, or any other mental health-related topic. The resource is anonymous, so that student concerns about their identity are not a barrier to reaching out for help. The clinician’s goal during the text conversation is to steer the student to available resources in the school and community. In cases with an identified extreme threat of danger, clinicians have the ability to alert local authorities. However, the vast majority of interactions result in the student garnering immediate support from the clinician and being informed about local individuals (frequently school-based) who can assist them with their concern. Free Summer Meals for Kids and Teens
The Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry will provide free lunch and activities for children and teens (ages 18 and younger) from June 12 to August 10 at St. Catherine of Siena - St. Lucy School (27 Washington Boulevard). Click here for more information >
Combination Locks for Student Lockers
6th and 7th grade students are asked to bring home their PE lock as well as the lock for their main locker. They will need to bring both of these locks back to Julian in August so they can be used for school next year.
Report Cards – Mailed Home Next Week
We will be mailing home student report cards the week of June 4. This is different than previous years when these were sent home with students on the last day of school.

Thursday, May 31 – 8th Grade Graduation / 5:00pm at OPRFHS
Friday, June 1 - Last Day of School for 6th and 7th graders – 12:00pm Dismissal
Week of June 4 - Report Cards Mailed Home
