Newcomer EL Summer Program 2020

The Newcomer EL Summer Program is designed to support students in grades 1-8 who are new to the United States and acquiring the English language.

The District 97 Newcomer English Learner Summer Program will allow incoming first through eighth-grade students to receive daily instruction from an EL teacher with proper scaffolding to increase learning in both academic and social language.  This opportunity will begin to address the unique needs of English Learners with equity and the whole child in mind. Students will also attend a field trip every Friday to enhance their learning.

Participation in the Newcomer English Learner Summer Program is by invitation only and is free to students (with a $25 non-refundable registration fee).
