Fifth-graders at Irving Elementary School closed out the 2017-18 school year with a unique project that brought their writing assignments to the airwaves.
Throughout the month of May, students in Nick Sakellaris' class wrote news reports as part of their weekly homework essays. With the assistance of Irving parent Lisa Labuz-Stowers, who works at WBEZ in Chicago, the students were able to turn their reports into an NPR-style podcast titled "WSAK News." The recording features short news stories and features about Irving students and staff.
