Middle School Summer Math

District 97 will offer Summer Math Enrichment Classes for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Incoming 6th grade students have the opportunity to take Introduction to Middle School Math only. To register, simply use the appropriate links below.

Dates: June 12 - July 3, 2017, Monday - Friday.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the rigorous, fast pace of the course; extended absences are not advised. If your child must miss days; it is your and your child's responsibility to make up any missed work and be prepared for the end of the course exam (if applicable). The teacher may not be able to review information with your child due to the fast pace of the course.

Time: 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM or 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Students may attend only one session)

Location: Julian Middle School (transportation is not provided)

Cost: $180.00 (Scholarships are automatically applied for students currently participating in the free or reduced lunch program by using the appropriate registration links). PLEASE NOTE: This year's fee includes a $25 non-refundable registration fee for ALL students. Should you cancel your child's registration, you will be issued a refund minus the $25 registration fee.

Current 5th grade students:

Introduction to Middle School Math - This class is designed to prepare 5th grade students for middle school mathematics.  Classes will provide additional support to students who need to review the 5th grade Common Core Math Standards. There will also be opportunities for students desiring to be challenged. Topics covered will include: fraction and decimal operations, proportions, and geometry.  PLEASE NOTE: This is the only class available for current 5th grade students.

Current 6th grade students:
Math 6 Review - This class will focus on digging deeper into the skills from Math 6. Topics covered will include fraction and decimal operations, ratios, proportions and geometry. Homework will not be given for this class.

Pre-Algebra 6 or Pre-Algebra 6 Review - This class will introduce and affirm Algebraic principles. A final exam will be given at the end of the course that students must pass in order to be recommended for Algebra 7. This may also be taken as a review course. Students can expect to receive homework for this class.

Advanced Algebra 6 - This fast paced class will focus on Algebraic Thinking, Real Number Operations, Solving Linear Equations, Graphing Linear Equations, Writing Linear Equations, Solving and Graphing Linear Inequalities, Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities.  A final exam will be given at the end of the course that students must pass in order to be recommended for Advanced Algebra 7. Students can expect to receive homework for this class.

Current 7th grade students:

Math 7 Review - This class will focus on digging deeper into the skills from Math 7. Topics covered will include solving algebraic equations, number sense with fractions and integers, and proportional reasoning. Homework will not be given for this class.

Algebra 7 or Algebra 7 Review - This fast paced class will focus on Solving Linear Equations, Graphing Linear Equations, Writing Linear Equations, Solving and Graphing Linear Inequalities, Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities.  A final exam will be given at the end of the course that students must pass in order to be recommended for Algebra 8. This may also be taken as a review course. Students can expect to receive homework for this class.

Advanced Algebra 7 - This fast-paced class will focus on rules of exponents, quadratic equations, factoring, radical functions, and rational functions. A final exam will be given at the end of the course that students must pass in order to be recommended for Geometry. Students can expect to receive homework for this class.
