There are a couple of changes to the district’s food service program that will be implemented during the 2018-19 school year. The first change is that the menus will now include information about the common allergens that can be found in the food that is being served. This change was the result of feedback we received from parents/guardians who served on our food allergy committee.
The second change is that we are switching to a three-week cycle menu that will be used for the duration of the 2018-19 school year. District 200, which serves as our food service provider, researched how other schools administer their breakfast and lunch programs, and found that many of them use a cycle system. In terms of the process for selecting the items featured on the menu, we utilized the numbers from our daily lunch counts, as well as the food students identified as their favorites via lunch and learn sessions we held last year.
