Below are links to presentations, reports and updates regarding the work that has been undertaken and the progress that has been made in conjunction with the vision for the district.
- On February 8, 2016, Superintendent Kelley presented the Board of Education with an update on the vision retreat conducted on January 30, 2016 and a recommended timeline for completing the district's vision planning process.
- On February 17, 2016, Superintendent Kelley sent an email to the community seeking feedback on the "six-word vision statements" that were created during the vision retreat.
- In March 2016, the district created an insert for the Village of Oak Park's OP/FYI newsletter that featured information about the vision planning process. This insert was sent to every residence in the community.
- On April 8, 2016, the district announced the names of the individuals who were selected to serve on the Superintendent's Advisory Panel, which is comprised of community members (e.g., students, faculty, staff, parents/guardians, etc.) who are helping advance the district's vision. On April 25, 2016, the district added additional student representatives to the panel.
- On April 12, 2016, the Board of Education received an update on the district's vision planning process.
- On May 11, 2016, the Superintendent's Advisory Panel received a summary of the findings from the Community Conversations Superintendent Kelley held the month before.
- In June 2016, the district published a draft of its vision planning document online, and allowed community members to use a Google Form to share their comments, questions, thoughts or ideas.
- On June 24, 2016, Superintendent Kelley provided an update on the district's vision planning process and shared a revised draft of the plan.
- During its meeting on June 28, 2016, the Board of Education reviewed/discussed the revised draft of the vision plan and the summary of the findings from Superintendent Kelley's Community Conversations that were presented to the Superintendent's Advisory Panel in May.
- During its meeting on July 12, 2016, the Board of Education approved the shared vision and strategic goals for 2016-18. The packet of materials for that meeting also included a draft of a vision action and alignment plan.
- On August 29, 2016, Superintendent Kelley published an essay titled "Fulfilling the promise: Every voice matters" that included information about her Community Conversations and the work on the district's vision.
- During its meeting on November 15, 2016, the Board of Education received a report regarding the district's vision elements, goals and metrics for 2016 to 2018.
- On November 30, 2016, Superintendent Kelley launched a new feature titled "Around the District with Dr. Kelley" that is helping to highlight the work being done by students, faculty, staff, parents/guardians and community members to advance the district's vision.
- During its meeting on December 6, 2016, the Board of Education received an update from Superintendent Kelley regarding the district's goals. This update also included information about the status of Superintendent Kelley's individual goals and key performance indicators, which are tied to the district's vision and two big rocks.
- On December 14, 2016, Superintendent Kelley hosted a conversation with community leaders about the district's universal goals.
- In January 2017, the district created an insert for the Village of Oak Park's OP/FYI newsletter that featured information about the vision planning process. This insert was sent to every residence in the community.
- During its meeting on January 10, 2017, the Board of Education received an update from Superintendent Kelley regarding her individual goals and key performance indicators.
- On January 12, 2017, the district announced that it was seeking community feedback on the key terms from the district's vision (positive learning environment, equitable, inclusive and focused on the whole child).
- During its meeting on January 24, 2017, the Board of Education received an update from Superintendent Kelley regarding her individual goals and key performance indicators.
- During the Institute Day that was held on January 27, 2017, the district's faculty and staff worked together to identify opportunity structures that would help every child we serve attain our universal goals. They also completed a survey about the supports they would need to make these structures happen for students.
- On February 27, 2017, community leaders used a process called Targeted Universalism to identify possible strategies the district could implement to help every student attain our universal goals. The district's Cab-VAAT team, which is comprised by building and district-level administrators, began to review/discuss those potential strategies during its meeting on March 20, 2017 in an effort to determine short- and long-term priorities.
- During its meeting on February 28, 2017, the Board of Education participated in a work session that was focused on data related to the district's vision. Please access a cover memo regarding this session here and access the presentation given during this session here.
- On March 16, 2017, student representatives from each District 97 school met to talk about the district's universal goals and select the one they will work on with their classmates. There is a "student only' town hall meeting scheduled to take place prior to the end of the school year.
- On Friday, March 17, 2017, Superintendent Kelley announced that she would be participating in several additional Community Conversations in March, April and May during which people would have the chance to share their views about the district's vision and help guide the work that will be done to support it moving forward.
