Working Together to Support Student Success

Partnering with parents is critically important to supporting our students and achieving our goals of ensuring every D97 student is…

  • Known, nurtured, and celebrated
  • Empowered and passionate
  • Confident and persistent
  • A creative, critical thinker and global citizen

The parent-teacher conferences held last week are a great time for educators and families to work together to do what is best for each one of our students. I hope that as a result of conferences, parents have a better understanding of the expected learning outcomes for this school year; how their child is currently doing toward reaching those desired outcomes; and what teachers and parents can do together to support each child’s success.

In the coming months, it is my desire that parents become more familiar with the activities and programs taking place in our schools. Principals and teachers will be sharing regular weekly communications with families, as well as posting pictures and updates on our social media sites.

There are many opportunities to collaborate on behalf of our students — parent-teacher conferences are just one of many. Ongoing, community engagement is key to the success of our district; we can’t ensure the success of each and every student without you.  Please make sure to use the Let’s Talk app to share your thoughts with me and my team so we can stay informed too!

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success! – Henry Ford
