District 97 is seeking individuals to serve as substitute teachers and substitute teaching assistants in its eight elementary schools and two middle schools.

“Being a substitute is a wonderful way to give back to the community and support our students,” said Gina Herrmann, senior director of human resources. “It’s also a great opportunity for people looking for a flexible work schedule with competitive pay.”

District 97 is hosting a Substitute Teacher Career Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Administration Building, 260 Madison St. During the event, candidates will have the opportunity to complete an application, interview, complete the onboarding process and receive assistance with obtaining a substitute license.

People who hold credentials to substitute teach in Illinois will earn $110 per day for working as either a substitute teacher or substitute teaching assistant. Anyone who possesses substitute teaching assistant credentials will earn $90 for a full day and $45 for a half day.
