District 97 Nurses Collect Gloves, Masks for Rush University Medical Center

Photo: Donations to Rush University Medical CenterDistrict 97 nurses came together this week to donate supplies to medical workers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago who are on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19.

The group collected and donated more than 7,000 gloves, a box of surgical masks and a box of N95 masks from the schools.

Half of the district's nurses used to work at Rush, which made their donation more personal, said Shilpa Advani, school nurse at Beye Elementary.

"We were all thinking of ways we could help, as it is just in our hearts," Advani said. "Many of us were hospital nurses not long ago, so we know how critical it is for hospitals to have enough PPE, and what it means if they do not."

Rush is currently accepting a variety of donations that include support of system-wide response efforts, frontline staff support and patient and family support. For more information, visit https://www.rush.edu/patients-visitors/covid-19-resources/rush-coronavirus-covid-19-donations.
