During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the District 97 Board of Education will consider a modified calendar for the 2020-21 school year. If approved, the first day of school for students would be delayed to Tuesday, Sept. 1, and the last day of school would be Tuesday, June 8.

The proposed changes would provide staff with six full days of professional development and planning prior to the start of school.
Under the proposed calendar, Teacher Institute Days would be held Aug. 24-28, followed by a Remote Learning Planning Day on Aug. 31. An additional Remote Learning Planning Day is scheduled for Oct. 9.
An outline of the proposed changes is included below. The following dates would remain the same:
- Legal school holidays—including Election Day (Nov. 3, 2020), as designated by Gov. Pritzker in June
- Parent-teacher conferences (Oct. 22-23, 2020, and Feb. 4-5, 2021)
- Winter break (Dec. 21, 2020 - Jan. 1, 2021)
- Spring break (March 29, 2021 - April 2, 2021)
The district will notify staff and families once the final calendar is adopted.
