Remote Learning 2021-22: Intent to Request Medical Exemption

Dear District 97 Families

As we quickly move toward the last day of school, we are also busy planning for the 2021-22 school year.

Last week, we shared that the district will continue to offer a full-time remote learning option next year with limited criteria for participation. Although we are still working to establish the full set of criteria, we have already determined that remote learning will continue to be offered for students who are at increased risk for severe illness or who live with people who are at increased risk. This is aligned to the latest guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health.

In order to plan for staffing and resources, District 97 first needs to determine how many students intend to continue remote learning next year due to a medical exemption. We are asking that all families who plan to enroll their children in remote learning for medical purposes only complete our “Intent to Request Medical Exemption” form no later than Wednesday, May 19. This form is not a commitment; data will be used for planning purposes only.

We understand that there may be interest in remote learning next year beyond those who qualify for medical exemptions. Once we finalize additional criteria for participation, that information will be publicized and a similar “intent to participate” form will be shared with all families.

The administration will provide an update on our plans for Fall 2021 during our next board of education meeting on Tuesday, May 11, at 7 p.m. We will also continue providing regular updates via email, the district website, and our Weekly Wrap-Up newsletter.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership,

Oak Park Elementary School District 97
