During its regular meeting held virtually on May 11, the Committee for Legislative Action, Intervention and Monitoring for District 97 (CLAIM) welcomed Ralph Martire, Executive Director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability.

The Center for Tax and Budget Accountability (“CTBA”) is a bipartisan nonprofit think tank committed to ensuring that state, federal and local workforce, education, fiscal, economic and budget policies are fair and just, and promote opportunity for all, regardless of race, ethnicity or income class. He is also the Rubloff Professor of Public Policy at Roosevelt University.

Martire discussed school funding under Illinois’ new evidence-based funding formula, how effective the legislation has been, the prospects for full funding for 2022-23, and how state funding impacts Oak Park.
