The District 97 Board of Education held its second committee of the whole meeting of 2023-24 on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Recordings of the presentations are linked below, along with the slide decks. Sustainability Efforts in District 97: Recording | Deck
District 97 Board President Gavin Kearney led a discussion on climate change and a future sustainability policy. He was joined by Gary Cuneen, founder of Seven Generations Ahead, who provided an overview of local efforts to build environmentally sustainable and healthy communities.

Logic Models - Framing the Work to Improve Student Experiences: Recording | Deck (includes school presentations)
Patrick Robinson, assistant superintendent of elementary schools, and Dr. Luis Fernando De León, assistant superintendent of middle schools, provided an overview of how the district is using logic models to develop high-quality core instructional practices that improve student experiences.

  • Lincoln Elementary School (presented by Principal Ryan Gordon, Assistant Principal Paula Hughes, and teachers Lisa Rudin and Courtney Tyler)
  • Mann Elementary School (presented by Principal Hussain Ali, student support specialist Nicole Pryor and instructional coach Jen Buckley)

Looking Ahead

The next committee of the whole meeting will be held Jan. 30, 2024.

The board has two business meetings scheduled for the reminder of 2023 (Nov. 14 and Dec. 12). The full meeting schedule is available on the district website, www.op97.org.
