Must Do For Fun Run FUNdraiser
This Week’s To Do List:

  • Set Up Fundraising Account for Fun Run
  • Share Link to get donations
  • Tell another Whittier parent how easy it was

Funds for the Fun Run Fundraiser are flowing in but there are still so many who have not set up their fundraising accounts. We can’t do this without you. Please take a moment to set up your student’s fundraising account by visiting www.getmovinfundhub.com and entering the School Identifier code 5d2f47547adff. We will keep the fundraising site open until October 20 so there is still time to keep those funds rolling in. We have had great success when you share your student’s fundraising link on social media with family and friends! If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please contact Sarah Sexton Martinez at [email protected].

This month is Hispanic Heritage Month!

You can learn more here about all the interesting events. Stay tuned as Whittier's Diversity Committee is collaborating on ways to have the community celebrate!

Gather those recess donations!

Send your kiddos to the classroom with your recess donations beginning Monday, September 20th to fill the recess bins for each classroom. With COVID protocols in place, our classes are in need of some extra equipment at recess! There’s still time to shop our Amazon shopping list for an idea of equipment for each class needs at recess! Principal Robinson is buying buckets for each classroom and we hope to have donations to fill those buckets.

Hump Day Café

Join us September 22nd after drop off to meet up at the Whittier Garden learning center. This is a great opportunity to meet Sarah Swagler, the VP of Engagement and talk with other parents.

Whittier Diversity Committee Meeting 9/28 @ 6:30pm

The mission of DivCo is to engage families in our children’s journey of learning, both academically and socially, in order to improve achievement and opportunities for ALL children but with particular emphasis on race, gender, income, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and citizenship. Our goal is to hear your voice on how we can continue to strive toward centering inclusion and equity at Whittier. Join us! Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.

Classroom Liaison Volunteers Needed
We still have classrooms in need of liaisons! This is a wonderful way to join the Whittier PTO and school community. Classroom Liaisons are the liaisons between teachers, families, and the PTO. This is a great way to get involved in our school and make lasting friendships with other Whittier families. Below is a list of roles and responsibilities:

  • Communicate with all of the parents/guardians/family members in your classroom
  • Meet with your teacher(s) at the beginning of the year to find out their needs and wishes
  • Plan and organize class events/parties
  • Recruit other parent volunteers for PTO events
  • Solicit and collect supply donations, if needed
  • Organize appreciations and various teacher gifts
  • Attend PTO Meetings when available

The PTO will help coordinate these roles and responsibilities throughout the school year. Please sign up to be a Classroom Liaison here: Classroom Liaison Sign Up Sheet. If you have any questions, please email Kristen Hollinden at [email protected] and Dominique Betancourt-Schaap at [email protected]. Thank you for considering!

Fun Run

The Whittier Fun Run is less than 1 month away on October 6! We need your help to make sure your students are registered and raising as many funds as possible on our platform. Students who raise $50 will be entered to win a weekly raffle prize. We will pull the first winner on 9/17.

  1. Register your Child by visiting www.getmovinfundhub.com. It's free, easy, and fast to register! For School Identifier use code 5d2f47547adff
