Whittier Sunday Packet - October 3, 2021

THE FUN RUN IS THIS WEEK!! Wednesday, October 6

Students will be participating in the Fun Run on October 6 with a rain date of October 13. There is still time left to help us exceed our goal of $15,000. Not to mention, the top fundraisers can win some awesome prizes including:

Daly Bagel gift cards
Chicago Fire 10/23 Game Tickets
2 Passes for the Go Ape Adventure Park
POPITS

It is not too late to sign up to raise funds! You can register now on our fundraising platform at www.getmovinfundhub.com  For School Identifiers use 5d2f47547adff. The site will receive funds up until October 20!

This year’s Fun Run will start with a warm-up course and then include running/walking for 10 minutes or making spirit signs at an art table. All students will receive a wall ball as a participation prize. Unlike prior years, we will not be serving food or water so we encourage your students to remember their water bottles at school that day. We also recommend dressing appropriately for the weather that day.

All volunteers will provide proof of COVID vaccination and wear masks. This year there are NO spectators allowed at the Fun Run. In order to volunteer to work a station during Fun Run, ALL volunteers have to provide their proof of vaccination sent to Ms. Richardson, [email protected] by 12pm noon on October 5. Sign up here to volunteer!

Save-the-Date! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to an auditorium near you!

We just received word that we are going to be able to have a modified Scholastic Book Fair IN PERSON for our Whittier Scholars! Your students will be able to visit during the school day between October 19-22. We will not be able to have the regular open hours after school so the best way to have your scholar get the books they deserve is to load an eWallet for them. It is super quick! Follow this link to get it started now (You can ask family and friends to contribute funds to them as well!).

Other things to know:
Concurrent to the in person fair is an online fair that will run October 18-31. Book orders over $25 ship to your house for FREE.

We will be asking our teachers to open Classroom "Wishlist" eWallet accounts that families can donate to so teachers can get fresh reads for their classrooms. Look for more about those next week.

We will need a lot of vaccinated volunteers to pull this off so make some room on your schedule for such things as set up, cashier positions and break down. It is a super fun event to volunteer for!

As always: All purchases benefit our school! View the flyer here.

Art to Remember is coming!

Art to Remember is an annual fundraiser that the kids love! It helps parents and schools preserve children’s artwork and supports art education through custom-printed keepsakes.

Look for order forms coming in late October and get all your holiday shopping done!
