Register for a first in our series of FREE Calm Play events! Join PTO VP of Diversity, Lisa Edelman Karp, at Dole Library on December 12, from 12pm-2pm for kids to use Legos and other building block toys for a low sensory playdate.

Whittier Family Day @ Chicago Wolves: February 20

Save the Date! Whittier Family Day will be Sunday, February 20 at 3pm against the Iowa WILD hosted by the Chicago Wolves and benefiting our school.

Tickets will be $20 and sales start soon! All attendees will receive a Chicago Wolves hat. These items are limited so be sure to purchase your tickets before the event sells out.

We are excited to see you there!


Submitting Proof of Vaccination After Second Dose

Given the large number of students who recently received their first and second doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, D97 has shared guidance to submit proof of vaccination to reconsider mitigations in our community.

  • IF YOU HAVE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT: Fill out a brief Google Form and upload a copy of the student’s vaccination card. CLICK HERE to access the links to the school forms.
  • IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A GOOGLE ACCOUNT: Email a copy of your student’s vaccination card to Nurse Hilary.

*Students Who Participated in Clinics at District 97 Schools

  • If your child's card was documented, no further action is needed.
  • If your child's card was not scanned or photographed, or if your child did not receive their second dose at a school clinic, please email a copy of the card to Nurse Hilary.

Whittier Family Event @ Chicago Wolves – Volunteers Needed

In partnership with the Chicago Wolves, we will be hosting a family event on February 20th and need your help ahead of time.  A team will be needed to promote the event, manage the silent auction and raffle table.  Only 2-3 hours per month is needed and you can sign up here.


Girl Scout Toy Drive

Girl Scout Troops 45639, 45556 and 47227 invite you to participate in a Holiday Toy Drive benefitting Marillac House as part of the Annual Toy Drive Service Project. Marillac House currently serves 285 under privileged families on Chicago’s West side. Each holiday season they host a Christmas open house where families can “shop” for new toys for their children. They also distribute new hats, gloves/ mittens and socks to the families as needed. We are looking to collect new, unwrapped toys, scarves, gloves and hats for ages 12 and under Puzzles, board games and books are especially welcomed • No toys that represent weapons • Please drop off toys in the Whittier Lobby before December 10th.


Junior Bravo! Workshop: January 8, 9am – 5pm

Junior BRAVO! is an amazing opportunity for any 3rd through 5th grader to become involved in the Performing Arts. Students who participate in this one-day workshop are taught by professional actors and BRAVO! students, plus get to perform a final show of excerpts from three spectacular productions! Cost includes a BRAVO! shirt. Register here


Illinois Able Presentation December 8, 6:30-7:30pm

Illinois ABLE will be presenting December 8 from 6:30 - 7:30. "IL ABLE is a savings and investment plan that makes it possible for people with disabilities and their families to save and invest their money for expenses related to living with a disability. IL ABLE accounts can help solve a long-time predicament that many people with disabilities face: how to build financial wellness without risking federal government benefits."
