Newsletter for Week of June 6

Dear Julian Families,

It is hard to believe that another school year has come to an end! Thank you all for the support and guidance that you provide your student(s).  Sixth and 7th graders will be dismissed at 3:30pm and then summer break begins. Their final grades will be available on the Powerschool Parent Portal. A copy of the report cards will be e-mailed home next week.

Also, students have been directed to bring home their PE lock as well as the lock for their main locker.  They will need to bring both locks back to school in August. We look forward to seeing you again in just a few short months for either the Welcome Night for incoming 6th graders on Wednesday, August 21, or the Welcome Back Night for 7th and 8th graders on Thursday, August 22.

IB Community Fundraiser = Success

Our most recent IB Community Project Fundraising Event was a huge success! Twelve groups of students put their projects into motion by participating in this school-wide fundraising event. The 8th grade students advertised their projects to the student body by going to classes, putting up posters, and using social media. They raised over $750.

The organizations students fundraised for were:

  • Alex’s Lemonade Stand
  • Appalachian Wildlife Refuge
  • Best Friends Animal Society
  • Connections for Abused Women and their Children
  • Honor Flight Network
  • Inspiration Kitchens
  • National Alliance on Mental Illness
  • Native American Rights Fund
  • Planned Parenthood
  • Reef Relief
  • Rosecrance
  • World Bicycle Relief

Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and thank you to everyone that participated!

Julian Ultimate Frisbee Club = SUCCESS

The Julian Ultimate Frisbee Club had an epic showing at the Illinois State Championships this past weekend in Joliet.

Julian A won the Illinois State Championship for the first time in school history - cruising through the first four games and outlasting our rival Fox Valley Fusion in a back and forth epic match that had thrilling plays on both sides!  Congrats to Coach Nate and Julian B who placed third in the state and showed amazing resiliency after a slow start in the morning to come back to win the second half against Fox Valley and beat Neuqua Valley in the final game!  Julian X and Y had great days in the B Division - playing crazy hard, learning a ton, and coming away with several victories as well!  Thank you Coach Seymour, Coach O'Brien and Coach Tony! The future is bright for next year too!!!
