District 97 Seeks Applicants to Fill Board Vacancy

District 97 Seeks Applicants to Fill Board Vacancy

Oak Park Elementary School District 97 is seeking to fill the school board seat vacated by the resignation of Board Vice President Jeremy Duffy, effective August 31, 2021. The Board must appoint someone to fill Duffy’s seat until the next election in April 2023.

Residents interested in applying for the vacant position must be at least 18 years old, have lived in District 97 for at least one year and be registered to vote.  

Candidates interested in applying for the appointment to the board of education must complete a Candidate Information Packet and submit a resume and cover letter. Please click the link below to download the packet. Physical copies may be picked up from Board Secretary Lonya Boose in the Superintendent’s Office, 260 Madison St. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Applications must be received by Lonya Boose by Monday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.

A special board meeting will be held in September, when candidates will be interviewed during closed session. An appointment is expected to take place no later than Oct. 30.
