I hope all of you enjoyed the summer and are ready to begin another wonderful year at Hatch Elementary School. I am looking forward to seeing all of our Hatch Tigers again. I have missed the buzz of children in classrooms over the summer!
We have many new and exciting things happening at Hatch this year. We have a brand new blacktop next to the playground. We also had a new fire alarm and intercom system installed as well as repairs made to our roof and tuckpointing. Our amazing PTO and parent volunteers have made improvements to the Hatch Patch and school grounds over the summer as well. When you visit the building for curriculum night, please take a look at the many improvements that have been made!
Over the past few weeks I have been busy meeting with teachers and staff to prepare for the arrival of our students on Wednesday, August 23rd. I continue to be impressed with the level of dedication and passion our teachers demonstrate in planning the best possible educational experience for our children. Our school improvement team and various committees have made a number of improvements to our day to day operations at Hatch. We were able to maintain a schedule that allows for more consistency of routines for all students as well as regular interventions and enrichment opportunities within the school day and the classrooms. We have also maintained our common planning time for teachers to better meet the needs of each individual child through Tier 1 instruction. District-wide implementation of quality curriculum and instructional practices across the grade levels as well as a social emotional curriculum and consistent language for all children will continue to greatly impact our students success. It is going to be an exciting year!
I want to thank Mr. White, Mr. Billups and Mr. Trotsky and the other members of our custodial staff who have been working tirelessly to get our building ready as well as Mrs. Bodzewski and Mrs. Martinez for assisting me with the myriad of tasks that have to be completed before the first day of school. I also want to thank the members of our fantastic PTO, as they prepared for this upcoming year.
