Message from December 1, 2017

Dear Hatch Families,

Thank you to everyone who came out on Tuesday to attend the PTO meeting. We discussed various types of assessments we use to measure student progress as well as the changes to this year’s report card. If you missed this month’s meeting you can check out the video recap by our amazing PTO presidents which will be posted on our PTO webpage. All of the presentation materials will be posted on the Hatch webpage.

Each year we strive to improve the school experience we provide to our students. In order to do so, we need your input. I’d like to invite parents to our next “Coffee with the Principal” on Friday, December 8th at 8am in the library. This is an informal gathering. Please feel free to stay 5 minutes or 45 minutes as your schedule permits and be sure to sign in at the main office. See you then!

We need your help! In order to meet all our students needs and to offer diverse experiences, the PBIS team continues to work on forming lunch clubs and are looking for parent/guardian involvement.  Currently, a couple teachers run lunch clubs, such as a book club, art club, and social skills group.  We would like to open more opportunities for students, so we are looking for parent/guardian volunteers. Some ideas for clubs include lego club, science club, Rosetta Stone club, Lexia club, drawing club, knitting club, or an origami club.  We are looking for parents or guardians who are consistently available once a week from 10:55-11:50 to run a club from now through April.  The PBIS team can help develop an idea or theme for the club or the parent/guardian can outline his/her own club.  We would help determine what grade level(s) are appropriate for the club and organize the sign-up.  Once a student is signed up for a lunch group, he/she would attend weekly.  Students will bring their lunches to the club to avoid a lot of traffic in and out during the lunch hour.

If you are interested or have any questions, please reach out to our social worker Susan Mura at (708) 524-3077 or [email protected].

The holiday celebration is at the end of this month. If room parents plan to serve food as part of the classroom celebration, the food plan must to be submitted to Nurse Rossi via e-mail no later than Monday, December 12th.  If you have not submitted a plan by December 12th, then it is assumed that no food will be served at the celebration. The food chosen should be from the approved food list. So, please let Nurse Rossi know as soon as possible what you plan to serve. Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation in ensuring a safe celebration for all our children!
