We had a wonderful week at Hatch! Thank you to all the families who came out to enjoy our Hatch Steel Band concert on Tuesday. Our young musicians gave an impressive performance! On Wednesday the Hatch PTO was awarded a 2017 Green Award for our extensive Hatch Patch programing. We are so proud of the amazing “green” experiences our students have the opportunity to participate in! You can check out the photos on both the PTO and D97 Facebook pages. The award is proudly displayed in our main office as well!
Holiday parties will be held in classrooms the afternoon of Friday, December 22nd. If you have questions about the holiday party, please contact the head room parent for your child’s classroom. We will also honor the holiday season together with our annual holiday sing! There will be limited seating for parents at the sing. If you plan to attend please sign in in the office and we will seat you once the children have taken their places.
Also, as we approach the last week before the holidays I want to thank all of our room parents as well as Nurse Rossi for their flexibility and thoughtfulness regarding food at celebrations. With an ever increasing number of allergies, both diagnosed and undiagnosed, keeping our children safe is always our main concern. We so appreciate your partnership in being as preventative as possible!
The Hatch Student Council will be sponsoring a fundraiser on Friday, December 22, with proceeds going to Pencils of Promise (www.pencilsofpromise.org), an organization that builds schools around the world. Students can donate a dollar ( or more) and receive a pencil as a thank you for their donation.
As we prepare for the holiday break, please remember to check the lost and found for any missing items. Labeling your child’s clothes and outerwear is a great way to avoid having to search.
Please be sure to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Survey that was sent from District 97 email. This is a unique opportunity to not only provide feedback to the school and district, but to support Hatch on a larger scale. School-level reports will be generated if at least 20 percent of parents respond to the survey. It should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Mann school has challenged us to a competition around parent participation, so please help us reach our goal. Thank you for your support!

Help us manage Box Tops for Education and the Golf Outing
The PTO needs your help.
Box Tops:
The PTO is looking for a parent to chair the Box Tops for Education program at Hatch. Box tops are collected in the main office and then the chair counts, enters the numbers online, and mails the box tops so the school can collect money. This is an easy position that has very flexible hours.
Golf Outing:
The PTO is looking for a parent or small group of parents to chair the PTO Golf Outing that takes place in the fall. Planning starts in the spring for this well-organized event. If you like golf and planning events then this position is for you!
Please email Beth Sauers at [email protected] if interested in serving.
