Message from Sept. 28, 2018

Thank you to all those parents who attended our first PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday. We had a wonderful turnout, despite the rain. We got to hear about the exciting work that has been happening in our school and learned about the many ways to be involved as part of the Hatch family! We also had very exciting learning opportunities for our teachers this week as they met in district-wide grade level teams to discuss instructional practices and share effective strategies for engaging students.

District 97 Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Week! Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th- October 15th. This year, Hatch will be celebrating along with other elementary schools in D97 during the week of October 1st-5th with activities planned for each day. Please see the attached flyer for details.

Reminder: Please do NOT bring dogs onto school property. We have a number of students who are very afraid of dogs as well as those who have allergies. Thank you!

Student Council campaigning is in full swing! This year's theme is "#DoSomething," and students will be able to contribute to a school bulletin board with a sticker that says what they commit to do this year to make Hatch and the world a better place. During our meetings, we'll be hearing stories and watching videos of kids all around the world who did things for their communities to make things better. You can be involved too! Please begin to chat as a family about all the ways, big or small,  you can make our world a better place.

In order to create a safe, predictable, consistent, and positive culture during the lunch hour, the PBIS team is organizing a variety of lunch clubs.  We are currently looking for parent volunteers who are available to run a weekly lunch club.  Some ideas for lunch clubs include lego club, science, crafts, walking, spoken word, or running club.  If you are interested in supervising a club, please contact Ms. Winfield at [email protected] to get started.

Last call to receive 15% off  your purchase of the 2018-2019 Hatch Yearbook!  Even though the 15% discount ends September 30th, you will be able to purchase the Yearbook throughout the school year.  See attached flyer for more information.
