This week our students participated in amazing assemblies in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was inspiring to see our students coming together to honor the message of Dr. King. Our choir led the musical performances and our fifth graders prepared their own original verse and performed a rap. Students of all ages participated in the assemblies which made the day so very special. Thank you to Mr. Jacobson for coordinating the event!
Family Literacy Night/Coffee House is next Wednesday, January 23rd from 6 - 7 P.M. at Hatch. Not only will you have the opportunity to pick up your family's copy of our One Book One School book and hear the first few chapters, but you will also get to rotate to a variety of stations centered around literacy. (There will even be coffee for the adults and hot chocolate for the students.) Can't wait to see your family there! Here is the link for volunteer sign up:

Please be sure to complete this year’s Illinois 5Essentials Survey! This is a unique opportunity to not only provide feedback to the school and district, but to support Hatch on a larger scale. School-level reports will be generated if at least 20 percent of parents respond to the survey. It should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If parents have more than one child that attends the same school, they may elect to participate multiple times. For parents with children enrolled in multiple schools, we recommend that they participate in the survey for each school. Mann School has once again challenged us to a competition around parent participation, so please help us reach our goal. Thank you for your support!

Just a reminder that students should not bring any snacks with nuts. Food with nuts can only be eaten during lunch in the cafeteria at specified tables. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all students safe!
The next event in Dr. Kelley’s community café series will take place next Thursday, Jan. 24, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Buzz Café (905 S. Lombard Avenue). All are welcome attend. There is no set agenda for these events. Instead, Dr. Kelley listens to comments and suggestions about the district, and also answers question raised by the people in attendance.
Just a reminder that this Monday, January 21st, there will be NO SCHOOL for students in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
