This week Hatch Elementary School participated in ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously). ACES is a celebration of health and fitness that we celebrated on Wednesday as a whole school. This is the idea of Physical Educator Lenny Sanders.  On this day over 7 million children from all 50 states and as many as 45 different countries were a part of this event!

Tomorrow is the big day!  This year's Multicultural Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Julian Middle School. If you’d like to join us in representing Hatch on this year’s float, please contact the main office. We will be meeting at Julian at 9:30, and the parade will begin promptly at 10. Come out and represent Hatch! Access additional information about the event >

The Specials Team is pleased to present the 5th Annual Spring Arts Fiesta, a celebratory show of your students artistic, musical, linguistic and movement-centered learning at Hatch. The shows will take place the evenings of Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th.  All k-5th students will have an artwork in the gallery and all 1st-5th grade students will participate in the music and language performances. You may view and purchase your student’s framed artwork for $20 (cash or check only) from 5:30-7:30 pm on the evenings of May 15th or 16th, but it is not required. In order to buy the frame for the artwork, please visit the cashier table with your art and turn in the attached label card. All un-purchased pieces will be returned by the end of the year.  On Wednesday night, the Oak Park Public Library Book Bike will also be here weather permitting. We look forward to seeing you there!

**STUDENTS should arrive 15 minutes prior to their performance time to the music room.

Just a reminder that all library books are due to the Hatch library no later than Friday, May 24th. The last week that students will check out books is the week of May 13th. Thank you for your help in getting all the library books returned to Hatch!

Author Lori Degman will be coming to Hatch on Monday, April 6th to present to all the K-2 classes! If you would still like to order an autographed copy of one of her books be sure to bring the order form to school on Monday. Extra copies of the order form are available here.

April Birthday Books: We celebrated a ton of great birthdays in April in the Hatch Library. Each student who had a birthday in April was the first to check out a hardcover library book. There sticker is placed inside the book and when they are done reading it they will return the book to Hatch for other students to enjoy their book. Look at all the new books and happy faces here! If you haven't had a chance to donate to this great program please click here to learn how to donate.
