Ms. Butler comes to District 97 from the University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Learning, where she served as an English Language Arts and Diversity Fellow. In her role, Ms. Butler led and coached teachers and administrators at 17 middle and high schools across Dallas Independent School District in research-based best practices and strategies for just and equitable literacy. 

Butler began her career as a middle school English Language Arts teacher and has served both as a middle school assistant principal and a dean of IB Humanities/ English Language Arts in Dallas and Chicago. Butler received her master’s degree in Urban Education at Southern Methodist University and her bachelor’s degree in communications from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
