Week of May 20, 2019

Olympic Day

Olympic Day will take place on Friday, May 24th.  If the event needs to be canceled due to weather, the rain date will be Tuesday, May 28th.  Students will be taking part in fun activities such as relay races, team building activities and a climbing wall.  Kindergarten, 1st and 5th grade will have Olympic Day in the morning and 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the afternoon.  Students need to wear gym shoes and shorts or pants.  Hats and/ or sunscreen are recommended!

Olympic Day Volunteers Needed!

Sign up for one of the most fun volunteer opportunities of the year! Volunteer for the shift your child is outside or, better yet, volunteer all day! Grades K, 1 and 5 are outside during the morning shift, grades 2, 3 and 4 are outside in the afternoon.
The two shifts available are:
7:45am-11:15am
11:50am-2:50pm.
All parent volunteers are invited to a pizza lunch from 11:15 until 11:50.  Click HERE to sign up.
Because we can't control Mother Nature, signing up for this event means you are committing to both dates: Friday, May 24 and the rain date, Tuesday, May 28. Please make sure you are available for both dates.

Open Gym Canceled Friday, May 24th

Due to Olympic Day set up the gym will not be available for Open Gym on Friday, May 24th.

Super Summer Math

Super Summer Math (SSM) is a Longfellow tradition that keeps our students math skills sharp all summer long!  It runs from June 11th through July 25th and takes place in the basement at Maze Library on Tuesday evenings from 6-7 pm and Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:30 am. Students are given workbooks that review all the skills they learned in their current grade. They do the work at home and show up every Tuesday or Thursday (or both) to earn prizes, play games, and see friends! Come weekly, or as often as you can. Students work at their own pace and you can plan your SSM visits around your summer plans.
