Anjali Asokan Karia
Music Teacher
Background
I have been teaching K-5 music and elementary chorus for over 20 years and am at Whittier Elementary School in Oak Park (go wildcats!). After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois, I was a performer in theater productions in Chicago and New York for 6 years. I am so incredibly honored to be teaching in Oak Park, where I didn't grow up, but had so many wonderful musical experiences as a child. I live in Oak Park now with my husband and son, a graduate of D97. I love sharing music with students through creation, collaboration, critique, and celebration!
