Throughout the course of the current school year, we have had the opportunity to engage with our families in very productive conversations related to our new assessment protocols (90% Summative; 10% Formative). Our families have been forthright in sharing their concerns and questions throughout this entire process.
Our Assessment Policy Committee has recently completed formalizing the next stage in this process: retakes/redos/test corrections. This component of the policy reflects the middle school commitment to the ideal that all students are expected to master the curriculum before moving on to the next unit of study. We fully expect this philosophical approach to be a more impactful tool for students who are initially unsuccessful with individual assessments. We look forward to sharing the final policy with all of our families once the process is complete.
