Student Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors were chosen by filling out an application. They were able to go to their feeder schools and welcome the class of 2029.


Incoming 6th Grade/New Student Summer Information

  • Math placement letters will be sent home in Summer 2026.
  • Student Schedules will be shared with students during Middle School Connections and will also be emailed one week prior to the start of school.
  • Wellness Physical and Sports Physical must be turned in by first day of school.
  • Dental exam form Illinois law requires all students in kindergarten, second, sixth, and ninth grade or any new student new to Illinois schools, to have a complete dental examination by May 15 of that school year.
  • 6th Grade Supply List (SY26-27 information to be updated soon) 
  • New Families: After you register, you need to contact Brooks Office to make course selections.

Middle School Connection Program

We are excited to bring to our community Middle School Connection, which aims to support students as they transition from elementary school to middle school, ensuring a smooth and successful start to their sixth-grade journey. Middle School Connection will offer ALL incoming sixth-graders with a warm welcome and spark a sense of belonging before the first day of school. This program will be held at both middle schools Brooks & Julian from 9:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., Aug. 18-20, 2026.

Transportation:  For students who are assigned to a bus route to get to middle school, they will have pick-up and drop-off transportation to the Middle School Connection program held at their Middle School.

Cost: Free to all Oak Park Elementary School District 97 Incoming 6th Graders

Please note: In order for your student to participate in the Middle School Connection program in August, your student must be registered to attend Brooks or Julian Middle School for school year 2026-27 no later than Monday, August 03, 2026. Please visit our website to complete your student's school registration to ensure your student is able to participate in our Middle School Connection program.

Estamos entusiasmados de traer a nuestra comunidad Middle School Connection, cuyo objetivo es apoyar a los estudiantes en su transición de la escuela primaria a la secundaria, garantizando un comienzo fluido y exitoso en su viaje al sexto grado. Middle School Connection ofrecerá a nuestros estudiantes entrantes de sexto grado una cálida bienvenida y despertará un sentido de pertenencia antes del primer día de clases. Este programa se llevará a cabo en las escuelas intermedias Brooks y Julian de 9:00 a. m. a 12:15 p. m., del 18 al 20 de agosto de 2026.

Transporte: Para los estudiantes que están asignados a una ruta de autobús para llegar a la escuela intermedia, tendrán transporte para recogerlos y dejarlos en el programa Middle School Connection que se lleva a cabo en su escuela intermedia.

New School Year August Welcome Events

Our student and family Welcome Event will be held over two evenings. During these opportunities, your student will receive the following information: bus route (if applicable), student locker/lock assignment, opportunity for your student to walk their schedule and place school supplies in their locker, pick up student ID, meet PTO and learn about extra-curriculuar opportunities. Incoming 6th grade and new students will get a Brooks T-shirt from our PTO, and will pick up a Chromebook and return their iPad (if they are a returning student).

Students can come alone or with their family. You should plan to spend 30-60 minutes, if your student plans to walk their schedule.

6th Grade and New Families Welcome Event: August 20th, 5 to 7:30pm

  • Brooks T-shirt will be given to all incoming 6th graders and new students (Stop by the PTO table) (if they didn't participate in Middle School Connections)
  • For any incoming 6th grade students that didn't do this at Middle School Connections, IPads from 5th grade will be collected and Chromebooks will be distributed.
  • New Students will be able to pick up a Chromebook
  • Walk your schedule (which are emailed to families as well as provided during Middle School Connections)
  • Get a locker assignment/lock; practice your combo and place your school supplies in your locker (if they didn't participate in Middle School Connections)
  • Pick up your new School ID (if they didn't participate in Middle School Connections)

7th & 8th Grade Welcome Event: August 20th, 5 to 7:30pm

If your student is not able to attend, locks and IDs will be distributed to students on the first day of school. 

Organizational Tools

  • Student Work Organizer to be used by students to help them monitor and review in PowerSchool their late/missing assignments or identify lower assessment scores for redos/retakes.
