The boys and girls volleyball programs at Brooks Middle School had very successful seasons, and the best season the boys program has had in its entire existence. The girls began with tryouts in early December. Although the numbers were down at tryouts versus previous years, the talent was tremendous. The JV team was comprised of eleven seventh graders and three sixth graders, along with eight managers. The varsity team was comprised of twelve eight graders. After a rough start, the JV girls finished the season 11 and 5, and the Varsity team finished 10 and 6. Both teams lost in the conference semifinals at the tournament. The seasons were very promising, and we are excited about the future of the girls program.
The boys had the best season in terms of records and final standings in the program’s history. The JV boys, consisting of four sixth graders and nine seventh graders, finished with a record of 10 and 6 and placed 4th overall in the conference. The varsity boys, consisting of eleven eighth graders, finished with a record of 13 and 3 and placed 3rd overall in the conference. Both teams were poised to make a run in the playoffs, but each team lost in their respective conference semifinal matches at the tournament. The interest in boys volleyball has been gaining ground, and it will help continue to build upon what we had this season.
