Middle Matters News from the Week of November 9, 2015

There are only 27 school days left in 2015! Energy levels can get low as we prepare for our holiday season. Here are some tips to keep students organized and focused:

  • Remind them what they should have in their possession each day before they leave home
  • Remind them of your expectations as a student each day (strength based words)
  • Check Canvas with your student each day
  • Help to create a task list/calendar for your student to keep them organized

Conference Survey Results
Below are the results from the conference survey. 119 parents responded.

  • How timely was the confirmation?
    76.5% - quick/very quick
  • Time spent in the conference
    72.2% - sufficient/perfect amount
  • Comfort with conferencing teacher
    80.7% - comfortable/very comfortable
  • Information about student
    43.7% - knows more about their student as a result of the conference
  • Style of conference preferred
    68.9% - Teams in a room and parents schedule a block of time

7th Grade Constitution Test (11/24)
Our 7th grade Humanities department is administering the Constitution test on Tuesday, November 24th.

Girls Volleyball

  • OPEN GYM for 6th and 7th Graders on 11/23 at 7am MAIN GYM
  • OPEN GYM for 8th Graders on 11/24 at 7am MAIN GYM
  • TRYOUTS for 6th and 7th Graders on 11/30 at 7am AND 3:30pm MAIN GYM
  • TRYOUTS for 8th Graders on 12/8 and 12/14 at 3:30pm MAIN GYM

All participants must have a current sports physical (less than 1 year old) on file!

District 97 Music Fest
The annual Middle School Music Fest is this Tuesday at Oak Park and River Forest High School Auditorium. The show starts at 7pm. Come out to see our students display their talent!
