Recycling with Style at Brooks

Young Scientist
CAN YOU SPARE 180 MINUTES for the Young Scientist Conference? – The Young Scientists Conference (YSC) is returning to D97 on Saturday morning, March 19, 2016. The YSC provides students in grades K-8 the opportunity to interact with scientists in a workshop setting. D97 is looking for scientists in all fields to conduct two 90-minute sessions. Participants attend only one workshop. Workshops should be hands-on and interactive, allowing students a chance to conduct experiments, measure, create, dissect, touch, observe, etc. If you are even remotely interested, please email Heather Guido for more details.

Word Problems
As we increase the complexity of our tasks, word problems are a great way to help our students apply their mathematical knowledge to a real-word problem. Here is a chart to help them to understand what math operations they are being asked to perform.
