Middle Matters from the Week of February 8th 2016

Brooks Families:

In the spirit of Black History Month and our IB Learner profile work, last week in advisory, students talked about identities and what shapes who we are. They made Identity Charts to explore their own sense of self. They also listened to a recording of Puerto Rican Activist Jesus Colon where he was faced with a dilemma that made him think about his own identity and how this incident challenged it. This week will will talk about the Little Rock Nine and what their first day of school was like and how that compares to our students current experiences. We are hoping to continue these fruitful discussions about perception, race, diversity and community. I encourage you to join in.
