Middle Matters Week of February 20th

 Good Morning Brooks Families:

As we observe this Presidents Day, I am reminded of the words our 44th president shared with us in his farewell speech. These words are so inspiring as we work toward building a strong community.

"So regardless of the station that we occupy, we all have to try harder. We all have to start with the premise that each of our fellow citizens loves this country just as much as we do, that they value hard work and family [equity and access] just like we do. That their children are just as curious and hopeful and worthy of love as our own.

And that's not easy to do. For too many of us, it's become safer to retreat into our own bubbles, whether in our neighborhoods or on college campuses or places of worship or especially our social media feeds, surrounded by people who look like us and share the same political outlook and never challenge our assumptions."

Notice regarding Slime/Putty

Students have been bringing homemade slime and/or purchased putty to school. Initially, students were using it responsibly. However, recently, it has become a distraction in the classroom. Additionally, custodians are finding remnants of it in the building. Please require that your student leave their slime and/or putty at home. If it is out in the classroom or throughout the building, it will be confiscated and parents can come pick it up from the office.
