
As we gear up for the upcoming school year, we are excited to announce a special opportunity for our incoming sixth-graders! “District 97 Middle School Connection” is a three-day program designed to help ease the transition from elementary to middle school. This program will take place at Brooks Middle School from August 12-14, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. All incoming sixth-graders are welcome and encouraged to attend, though attendance is not mandatory.

Why District 97 Middle School Connection?
Transitioning from elementary to middle school can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Students are not only changing school buildings but also undergoing significant developmental changes. District 97 Middle School Connection aims to build confidence, create connections, and ensure a smooth start at Brooks Middle School.
Program Details
Dates: Aug. 12-14, 2025
Time: 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Location: Brooks Middle School
Cost: Free to all District 97 incoming 6th graders
Transportation: For students who are assigned to a bus route to get to middle school, pick-up and drop-off transportation will be provided.
Food: Nut-free snacks will be provided to students.

Program Goals
- Foster a sense of belonging and community among incoming sixth-grade students.
- Provide opportunities for students to develop social-emotional skills and build positive relationships with peers and teachers.
- Introduce students to the academic expectations of middle school.
- Equip students with strategies to support success in sixth grade and middle school.
- Address any anxieties or concerns students may have about transitioning to middle school.
