Message from January 24, 2020

Thank you to all the parents who came out to our PTO meeting this month to learn about student assessment and ways to support our students at home from our instructional coach, Ms. Polley. The home/school connection is so important in supporting our students’ growth! Thanks also to the amazing generosity of the Hatch community. The Hatch Student Council raised over $700 that will be sent to the World Wildlife Australia fund, which will be used to rescue and care for injured animals, and restore habitats by planting trees. We are overwhelmed at this response! Stay tuned for other ways that our Hatch students will have the opportunity to help others in our community and around the world!

Conferences are next week! Our amazing PTO will be providing child care on our late night, Thursday the 31st, from 12:30-7pm. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 am both Thursday, January 30th and Friday, January 31st. While you are here for conferences, please take a moment to check the Lost and Found. All items not claimed will be donated to families in need after conference week. Please write your child’s name in any item that might find its way to the Lost and Found.

Please be sure to complete this year’s Illinois 5Essentials Survey! This is a unique opportunity to not only provide feedback to the school and district, but to support Hatch on a larger scale. The window closes on February 14th. It should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If parents have more than one child that attends the same school, they may elect to participate multiple times. For parents with children enrolled in multiple schools, we recommend that they participate in the survey for each school. Thank you for your support!

Please mark your calendars for the Annual Family Literacy Night at the Hatch Coffee House, which is coming to Hatch on Tuesday, February 11th, 6-7 PM. Bring the entire family for a night full of literacy activities, poetry readings, and the kick off of this year's One Book One School!

The Hatch Student Council is planning their next fundraiser for the Yes We Can World Foundation in their efforts to provide education for kids at the border. On February 21st, students will be duct taping Mrs. Mendez to the wall! A donation of $1 or more will provide one piece of duct tape for each donor. Yes We Can World Foundation supports migrant families and children in the United States and Mexico. They assist families with their educational journey, general migrant rights and educational rights for children. You can find more information by going to their website - https://www.yeswecan.world/.
