Message from January 31, 2020

Thank you to all the parents who came out for parent teacher conferences. We appreciate your partnership in supporting our students’ progress. This week our students participated in amazing assemblies in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was inspiring to see our students coming together to honor the message of Dr. King. Our choir led the musical performances and did an amazing job! Students of all ages participated in the assemblies which made the day so very special. Thank you to Mr. Jacobson for coordinating the event!

Please be sure to complete this year’s Illinois 5Essentials Survey! This is a unique opportunity to not only provide feedback to the school and district, but to support Hatch on a larger scale. The window closes on February 14th. It should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If parents have more than one child that attends the same school, they may elect to participate multiple times. For parents with children enrolled in multiple schools, we recommend that they participate in the survey for each school. Thank you for your support!

Please mark your calendars for the Annual Family Literacy Night at the Hatch Coffee House, which is coming to Hatch on Tuesday, February 11th, 6-7 PM. Bring the entire family for a night full of literacy activities, poetry readings, and the kick off of this year's One Book One School!

The Hatch Student Council is planning their next fundraiser for the Yes We Can World Foundation in their efforts to provide education for kids at the border. On February 21st, students will be duct taping Mrs. Mendez to the wall! A donation of $1 or more will provide one piece of duct tape for each donor. Yes We Can World Foundation supports migrant families and children in the United States and Mexico. They assist families with their educational journey, general migrant rights and educational rights for children. You can find more information by going to their website - https://www.yeswecan.world/.

The PBIS Committee is excited to introduce “Tiger Dens” to Hatch School.  Tiger Dens will consist of multi-age groups of 12-15 students that will meet monthly to participate in various team building activities.  All students will participate and each Den will be led by a Hatch staff member.  The purpose is to foster a sense of community and belonging among students.  Our first Tiger Den will be on Wednesday, February 5.  What a great opportunity for our Hatch Tigers!
