Message from February 21, 2020

Thank you to all the families who supported our student council’s most recent fundraiser. I am so proud of our young leaders for taking an active role in making our world a better place. Global citizenship is an important part of our school culture, and students choosing to help other students is quite a noble endeavor. Go Tigers!

Over the past few weeks in music class, we have been learning about opera at Hatch.  Each year, we partner with an excellent company called “Opera for the Young” who will be coming for a performance next week.  They send us all the necessary materials for a show, and then Mr. Jacobson teaches all of our students about the story, the music and about opera as an art form.  Our show this year is "The Pirates of Penzance." This is one of the most famous operas and was written by Gilbert and Sullivan. If you ask your child, they should be able to tell you all about the story and sing you some of the songs as well!

Please remember that any device/watch that can be used as a phone or for texting cannot be used during the school day. If your child has a device with these capabilities, please remind them that they may not use it during school hours. Thank you for working with us to keep the focus on student learning!

In order to ensure the safety of our students, we are asking parents who drive their children to please drive slowly and carefully when near school grounds. Please obey all traffic laws and be extra careful at intersections. Please do not double park nor block the street or driveways during drop off/pick up. Whenever possible, please opt to walk your student to and from school. Let’s all work together to keep our students safe!

FLU SEASON IS HERE!!!  There have been several confirmed cases of flu at Hatch.  Flu is a serious illness. If your child is ill, please make sure they are fever free for 24hours before having them return to school. The BEST way to prevent flu for you and your child is to get a flu shot. Feel free to contact Nurse Rossi for additional questions.
