Dear Hatch Families,

Thank you to our amazing teachers who navigated week 2 of a brand new way of teaching once again!  Thank you to both our in-person and remote families for following the procedures to keep our kids and staff safe and for your patience and support as we work through this latest transition!

In person families-we need your help!  Getting into the habit of observing all of the new safety protocols will take time and practice.  Please support our efforts by not only following these rules yourself, but reminding others that we must model for our students the social distancing behaviors we are asking them to exhibit.  Here are some reminders:

Please refrain from entering the school property during drop off and pick up.  Only students and staff should be on the blacktop, parking lots and line up areas.

Everyone, including caregivers, MUST be wearing a mask when escorting children to school.

Please be on time.

Social distancing rules are in effect.  Please do not gather and socialize.

NO DOGS are allowed on school property.

Please certify your child every morning by 7:15, even if staying home, to prevent them being flagged in our system.

If using the drop off lane, please wait until you reach the end of the cones to let your child out and only use the curb side for your child to exit the vehicle.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.  Mitigating the spread of Covid-19 will help our schools stay open.  Working together toward this goal is the best way to support our students and staff!

Trimester 3 Selection Form was sent yesterday!!  Please read the entire message from D97 regarding your selection as there are updates around the planning.  We are asking all parents to complete the Trimester 3 Learning Selection Form for each student in their household by 10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021.  There is a quick turnaround to gather this data in order to plan the logistics around our Hybrid model for Trimester 3.  The sooner families complete the survey, the sooner our team can get to work on that plan and in turn inform parents as to the details.  Please spread the word-complete the form today!

Our Virtual Winter Conferences are scheduled for Thursday February 25th.  Your child’s teacher will communicate the schedule for their class.  Due to conferences, classes (both in-person and remote) will dismiss at 11:00 on Thursday (2/25) and Friday (2/26).

Our next Virtual PTO Meeting is Tuesday at 7pm.  Here is the zoom link.

The Hatch PTO is happy to once again offer the Kids Kreations Art Fundraising Activity - A fun way to treasure your child’s artwork.  This is an entirely optional fundraiser.  This year we are going virtual.  Since we were unable to send in physical art for Kids Kreations to scan, you and your child get to choose from any old or new pieces of their art that you have at home.  They may, alternatively, choose to create something special for this occasion.  You may also choose to use a favorite photograph, photo collage, or special logo.  You still have the opportunity to order a wide array of 50+ products with your child's art on it.  Hatch PTO will still earn up to 35% profit on anything that you chose to order.

The simple uploading of art, photo, or logo will be done by you and the ordering will be online (https://www.kidskreations.us) only.  Shipping will be directly to your home, with a flat $8 shipping rate, regardless of the monetary amount ordered.  Please see the attached flyers (flyer 1) (flyer 2) for easy step-by-step directions on how to complete this process.  Thank you for supporting Hatch School!  Any questions?  Please contact Sharon Morgan [email protected] or Kids Kreations directly at 866-652-3770.

*NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, February 15th.  Students return to both remote and in-person learning on Tuesday, February 16th.

D97 Updates:

Trimester 3 Learning Selection Form Due by Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. District 97 will continue to offer hybrid learning during Trimester 3. This means that families must choose to enroll their students in either 1) on-site learning or 2) full-time remote learning. All families must complete the Trimester 3 Learning Selection Form for each student in their household by 10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. Your selection will apply to Trimester 3, which begins Monday, March 15, and goes through the last day of school, June 10. Students who select remote learning will not be able to switch to on-site learning once the form closes. If we do not receive a student’s form by the end of the day Feb. 18, they will default to their learning selection for Trimester 2.

Keep D97 Safe: Please Avoid Non-Essential Travel: Travel increases the risk of exposure to the coronavirus for our students, staff and community. Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. The Cook County Department of Public Health recommends that residents avoid all non-essential activities, including school and work, for 14 days upon their return to suburban Cook County. If staff, students or families travel out of state for more than 24 hours, they should not report to school. The district's quarantine requirements are outlined in our Framework for Reopening Schools.

How Do I Access Technology Support During Hybrid Learning? Technical support will be available from school and district technology staff by accessing the Help Desk through email, [email protected]. When an email is submitted, a Help Desk ticket is created and assigned to technology staff, who will be working throughout the day to address technology concerns. Our technology team can support District 97 devices and student online programs.

D97 to Host Virtual Parent-to-Parent Circle Series: District 97 families are invited to join our upcoming Virtual Parent-to-Parent Series, which will be facilitated in partnership with the E-Team of Oak Park. Events will be held:

Thursday, Feb. 18, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 18, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 29, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The sessions are designed to build community among District 97 parents and guardians and provide support as we navigate hybrid learning. The intention is for parents/guardians to attend all three sessions to help build a consistent community, but if you cannot make the first session you may still attend the others. Please let us know your availability in the registration form so that we can plan accordingly. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Feb. 16. To sign up, please visit https://bit.ly/D97ParentCircles.
