Thank you to our Hatch families for the overwhelming amount of love and appreciation you have shown our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Especially this year, your support means the world to us!

Thank you to Ms. Howe and Ms. Polley and our PTO for an amazing One Book One School kick off! We hope you will enjoy reading “The Last Last Day of Summer” as a Hatch family.

Nurse Rossi will be out for the next four weeks on a medical leave and Nurse Nicole Turner is covering at Hatch. You can reach her at [email protected].

Just a reminder that skateboards, scooters and rollerblades should not be ridden to school. Bikes may be ridden but should be walked to the bike rack once on school property. Also, dogs are not allowed on school property. Thank you for your cooperation!

Forgotten Items: At this time, we are not able to accept items that are forgotten at home.  In the event that a student forgets their iPad, we do have a small supply that students can use for the day. Students should use the bathroom before leaving home and check that they have their snack, water bottle, 2 masks, iPad and any other learning materials.

Library Book Checkout will continue to run during hybrid learning!

  • REMOTE STUDENTS: Please make sure to fill out this new Google Form for all book requests.  Click here to learn all about when and how students will receive their books and how students can return their Hatch library books.
  • IN PERSON STUDENTS: Will checkout library books from our mobile library during their library class time every week! Students will bring their new library book home every week to enjoy and read, then the following week that book should be returned to Hatch. At that time, books returned will be placed in quarantine for 1 week. Please help your student to return their library books every week. Thanks for your support!

The Hatch PTO is happy to once again offer the Kids Kreations Art Fundraising Activity - A fun way to treasure your child’s artwork.  This is an entirely optional fundraiser.  This year we are going virtual.  Since we were unable to send in physical art for Kids Kreations to scan, you and your child get to choose from any old or new pieces of their art that you have at home.  They may, alternatively, choose to create something special for this occasion.  You may also choose to use a favorite photograph, photo collage, or special logo.  You still have the opportunity to order a wide array of 50+ products with your child's art on it.  Hatch PTO will still earn up to 35% profit on anything that you choose to order.  The simple uploading of art, photo, or logo will be done by you and the ordering will be online (https://www.kidskreations.us) only.  Shipping will be directly to your home, with a flat $8 shipping rate, regardless of the monetary amount ordered.  Please see the attached flyers for easy step-by-step directions on how to complete this process.  Thank you for supporting Hatch School!  Any questions?  Please contact Sharon Morgan [email protected] or Kids Kreations directly at 866-652-3770.

Career Day 2021! The DivCo team is holding their career day virtually this year! We’d like to have 2 speakers from each class speak for about 20 minutes followed by a 10 minute Q&A. Being virtual will have its benefits as guest speakers can be remote and login to student's zooms, opening up opportunities for parents who might not have been able to participate otherwise. It's a 30 minute commitment (via zoom), June 8th either 8:30-9 or 9:00-9:30am.  Details and Sign Ups can be made via this sign up genius link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084DA5A929AA8-hatch1

In an effort to build relationships between home and school during the transition to middle school, we are offering two dates for 5th grade students, families, teachers, and staff to meet in-circle online — May 6 and May 11. Please click on this flyer for more details.

There is no school this Friday, May 7th, due to Remote Planning Day for teachers.  On behalf of the faculty and staff at Hatch, we would like to wish everyone a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Finish Strong: Help Us Keep D97 Safe

As COVID-19 continues to impact our community, it is critical that we remain vigilant in our efforts to keep District 97 schools safe.

The decisions we make during these next few weeks have a direct impact on our ability to maximize in-person learning for our students. Whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, we all have a responsibility to follow ALL safety guidelines set by state and local health departments in order to reduce potential spread of the virus.

With this in mind, please help us "Stay Safe and Finish Strong."

If you are sick, STAY HOME.

  • Wear a face mask or covering at all times while at school.
  • Maintain social distancing (6 feet, as much as possible).
  • Wash or sanitize your hands often.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue.

The Asian American Experience: Community Education Event on May 20 at 7 p.m.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. In light of the recent rise in AAPI hate crimes and violence, making space to acknowledge the impact that the historical and present day anti-Asian sentiment has on our community is more important than ever. On May 20, Districts 200, 97, and 90 and the Oak Park Public Library are partnering with community members to host a virtual conversation about the racial equity challenges of our Asian-American community members. Stay tuned for more information on this community event.

Now Hiring: School Lunch Supervisors

To support our students and staff during the school day, we are still seeking more parents and community members to serve as lunchroom/recess supervisors through the end of the school year. It's easy to apply, and your time would have a direct impact on our ability to provide full days for our students. Click here to learn more and apply.
