The school will be CLOSED next week, and classes will resume Monday, April 3rd. Have a wonderful spring break!

LAST CHANCE! We need your support! Please complete this year’s Illinois 5Essentials Survey before March 31st. This is a unique opportunity to provide feedback to the school and district and support Hatch on a larger scale. We are currently at 24%!  It should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If parents have more than one child that attends the same school, they may elect to participate multiple times. For parents with children enrolled in multiple schools, we recommend that they participate in the survey for each school. Thank you for your support!

This week’s Jacob Grant Author Visit was a huge success: On Tuesday, all K-2 students attended this amazing interactive opportunity for our students. Thank you to Ms. Stringham and our PTO for making this happen!

On Wednesday, our amazing winter group of Creative Kindness Leaders wanted to do something special for our staff, so they came up with a Spring Break version of our Cookies & Cocoa...... Luau Luncheon! What thoughtful and creative young leaders we have here!

CPU Lesson 6
This week we taught the last lesson of our Child Protection Units in accordance with Erin’s Law, which teaches students age-appropriate ways to recognize and report sexual abuse. Students watched videos that were designed to help them remember and practice the skills and concepts they’ve learned throughout the last 5 weeks. Research shows that when students review and practice safety rules and skills, they’re more likely to remember and apply them when they need to. Talking to kids about heavy subjects like this can be uncomfortable for all of us.  If you are interested in some guidance navigating these conversations, click here to read this conversation guide for adults and caregivers. When we return from spring break, we will resume teaching our Second Step lessons, which will focus on solving problems with peers!
