Whitfield

Dr. Whitfield comes to District 97 from Maywood, where she was dean of students at Irving Middle School for the past two years. In this role, she oversaw the eighth grade team of teachers and students, led the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program, culturally and linguistically responsive teaching team, served as athletic director and oversaw after-school clubs.

Prior to becoming an administrator, Dr. Whitfield taught middle school English Language Arts and was a team lead at Stevenson Middle School in Melrose Park. She also taught English at Marshall High School and surrounding high schools in Chicago. She has a master's degree in educational administration from American College of Education, a master’s of arts in teaching from Chicago State University, and a master’s of science in politics and government from Illinois State University. Dr. Whitfield has her doctorate of philosophy in business administration from TIUA School of Business.
