Jason Lukehart
4th Grade Teacher
I grew up in Oak Park, on the rough and tumble south side of town. I attended Longfellow Elementary and Julian Jr. High, then Oak Park River Forest High School, where I played Lacrosse and graduated as a National Merit Finalist and an OPRF Honor Scholar. I was then drawn to the vast fields of corn surrounding the University of Iowa, from which I graduated with a BA in political science. During high school I had begun working for the Park District of Oak Park, to which I returned each summer. I ran camps during the summer and also coached both boys and girls basketball, football, and floor hockey. I spent two years living out west, first in Portland and then in Los Angeles. When I decided to become a teacher, I knew I'd want to be in a classroom back home so I moved back and enrolled at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I received my master's degree in education. I have been teaching at Whittier since 2009 and am thrilled to be there.
