Welcome to the Big M.A.C.!  We would like to welcome you and your child to an exciting year with the 1-2 Multi-Age Classroom (M.A.C.)  We are looking forward to continuing our relationships with our "Veteran" families, and building new relationships with our "Rookie" families.  Multi-Age is designed to take advantage of the natural diversity of "real world" situations.  The classes are created when children of different ages and grade levels are intentionally combined in a single classroom to realize academic and social benefits.  Generally, this classroom situation fosters an atmosphere where students and teachers spend more than a single year together in a multi-aged learning community.  This provides time for the teachers to ensure each child's learning, and establish educational relationships.  Multi-age education emphasizes building upon various strengths and self-esteem.  It focuses on the whole child; students are encouraged to develop leadership skills, nurture behaviors, accept individual differences, while taking academic risks.  In a multi-aged classroom, all strengths, abilities, and learning styles are welcomed, valued, and celebrated!
