As many of you are aware, Principal Jonathan Ellwanger will retire in June after more than 30 years of service at Beye. In preparation for his departure, District 97 is beginning the search for the school's next principal.
One of the first steps in this process will be to create a profile of the ideal candidate for the position that is based on feedback from the school’s students, staff and parents/guardians. To help us gather this information, we created a brief survey that the Beye community can use to share their thoughts about the leadership qualities and characteristics they believe the next principal should possess. We will also host a parent focus group at Beye on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., where families can share their input in person.
When the principal profile has been completed, we will use it to perform an initial screening of applicants for the position. Through that screening, we will select the candidates who will be invited to participate in the first round of interviews, which will be conducted by video in early January. The video interviews will be screened by district and building administration, and we will invite top candidates to participate in second-round interviews with school-based teams that are composed of staff members and parents/guardians.
The school-based teams will identify the top four to five candidates who will be invited to participate in another round of interviews with district administration. When these interviews have been completed, Superintendent Carol Kelley will meet one-on-one with the remaining candidates. She will then utilize all of the information and feedback collected to select the individual who will be presented to the Board of Education for appointment to the position pending the results of a comprehensive background check. Our current goal is to complete this entire process by mid-February.
