District 97 Students' Award-Winning Short Films to be Screened Online

The Oak Park community will have the opportunity to see award-winning films focused on sustainability that are directed by three District 97 elementary school students.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Kohl Children’s Museum will hold an Online Mini Film Festival featuring the short, elementary school, winning films from the One Earth Young Filmmakers Contest.

Mann Elementary School students Zoë and Jada Nevels won the top prize in the elementary school competition with their film “We Can All Help the Earth.” Beye fourth-grader Grady Roderweiss-O’Brien received an honorable mention in the elementary school category for his film, “The Impossible Way.”

“The Impossible Way” will be screened Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m., while “We Can All Help the Earth” will be available to watch Sunday, April 26, at 10 a.m. Following the screenings, audience members can take part in a Zoom Q&A with the young filmmakers.
